About Us
Based in Wiltshire, Hampshire and surrounding areas, we are Manaraefan Reenactment Group specialising in Viking and Anglo Saxon historical periods, ranging from 794AD - from the first raids at Lindisfarne right up until the Battle of Hastings - to 1066AD.
We are part of The Vikings Society and attend both local and national shows and events that are either organised by ourselves or the wider society.
Manaraefan is dedicated to recreating life in the Viking age and having fun. Manaraefan puts on public displays of Viking life which range from a single Viking visiting a school to small battles.
We currently have over 60 members within our group varying in all ages. As part of The Vikings, Manaraefan can also present battles with a significant number of warriors. Battle displays can also be supported by a living history camp where the portrayal of everyday life can be seen within the Viking and Saxon period.
Manaraefan and The Vikings Society are renowned for our high standard of presentation, historical accuracy, and attention to detail; for the scale and impact of our combat displays; and for our extensive living history villages which present a cross-section of life in the Early Middle Ages.
Visitors can move from an arena display of hand-to-hand combat or the use of the bow and the sling for hunting or warfare, to a walk through history in our tented encampment, to experience the crafts, the food and the way of life of our forebears. We supply school visitors to UK schools and we run educational displays and other historical events.
We are a family-orientated group which has members from all walks of life and every age group. We take part in shows all across the UK, a list of which can be found on The Vikings events calendar.
